Nadal took out of the season-ending event at the O2 Arena after struggling versus David Goffin.

Nadal lost 7-6( 5 ), 6-7( 4) and right away withdrew from the tournament, claiming his season was over.

“It was not a choice at all,” Nadal stated.

“It’s about the pain. I can not accept adequate power to keep playing. I tried, but seriously was a miracle to be very close in the score throughout the match.”

He insists he was committed to the ATF event but in the end, it simply hurt excessively.

” I am committed with the occasion, with the city, with myself. I strove. I did the important things that I had to do to try to be prepared to play,” Nadal stated.

” But I am truly not ready to play. I battled a lot during the match, but knowing that [there] most likely was a huge opportunity to be the last match of the season.”

Who changes Rafael Nadal at the ATP Finals?

Nadal is substituted by the first alternative player Pablo Carreno Busta.

The Spaniard deals with Dominic Thiem on Wednesday after 8 pm. The 26-year-old has three profession titles and won in Estoril previously this year. He was down as the very first double game because Stan Wawrinka is out with injury. Sam Querrey is the second replacement and will step up if anybody else withdraws.
